Overview & Objectives
Even when every effort is made to prevent injury on the job, accidents may occur. When they do, workers must be aware of the presence of bloodborne pathogens and be trained to respond appropriately to aid in the prevention of disease transmission. Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness for General Industry training helps course participants identify risks, take appropriate precautions, and properly use protective equipment to maintain a safe, healthy workplace.
This introductory online course covers important topics in bloodborne pathogen (BBP) awareness, including:
- Common bloodborne pathogens, including HIV and hepatitis
- Universal exposure and infection prevention precautions per OSHA standards
- Basic decontamination procedures
- The use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
By covering the basics of BBP safety training, Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness for General Industry prepares students to take responsibility for personal safety on the job.
