Overview & Objectives
Ionizing radiation can cause serious health complications for those who are exposed to it. Members of the general industry workforce often have more extensive contact with this radiation than those in other regulated industries. To help these professionals stay safe, our Ionizing Radiation Awareness for General Industry course provides introductory-level ionizing radiation awareness training that they can apply on the job. By discussing the basics of ionizing radiation, safety requirements, and more, this course can help promote the safety of your general industry team.
NOTE: This course focuses on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and provides links to the Department of Energy (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines as covered by Subpart Z 29 CFR 1910.1096 for general industry.
This course aims to protect its participants against workplace injury caused by ionizing radiation. To do so, it covers the following course topics:
- Effects and properties of ionizing radiation
- Routes of exposure
- Ionizing radiation permissible exposure limit (PEL) and action level (AL)
