Overview & Objectives

Respirators protect workers from many occupational hazards, including environments containing insufficient oxygen, harmful dust, fog, gases, and more. In some cases, these dangers contain carcinogens, making proper respirator use incredibly important for the health and wellness of general industry professionals.

In Respiratory Protection Awareness for General Industry, participants will receive introductory respiratory protection awareness training that they can apply in the workplace. This online training takes only 25 minutes to complete, so you can easily fit it into your schedule.

In this online safety course, participants will learn about the use of respirators in the general industry field. Specifically, it covers topics that include:

  • The basics of respiratory protection
  • Respirator safety and health
  • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) respiratory standards, including 29 CFR 1910.134
  • United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) air requirements

Who is this Course for?

Our Respiratory Protection Awareness for General Industry course was designed for all general industry employees, supervisors, and managers in general industry workplaces where respirators are used. Applicable fields include:

This course is not intended for those who work outside of the general industry workforce.

Features & Benefits

Upon completion of this course, participants will have gained a heightened awareness of respiratory protection. This includes when and why to use respirators, who requires further respirator training, and when medical evaluations need to occur. Participants will have also learned how to properly wear and use a respirator. Completion of this course alone does not permit an employee to wear a respirator, supplemental actions, such as medical evaluations and respiratory fit testing must also be completed.

Moreover, course participants will have become familiarized with OSHA’s respirator standards, as well as the basics of breathing volume and air quality monitoring. Finally, taking only 25 minutes to complete, participants can take this course from the comfort of their own home and without disrupting their work schedules.
