Kim has twenty-eight years experience as an educator and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She has a broad background in education as a high school English teacher, a college adjunct instructor, a writer and scorer for state tests, and a mentor to beginning teachers. She has served on many school committees and has served as Teacher Leader in curriculum and as department chair.
Among her favorite experiences as a teacher are trips she organized and led including eleven trips to Washington, DC and seven international trips including a total of 20 countries. Education truly comes alive outside of the classroom.
Kim considers herself a lifelong learner. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Mass Communication from Campbell University, a Master of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Multicultural and Transnational Literatures from East Carolina University, and Doctor of Philosophy degree from the College of Education at North Carolina State University. She has taken many courses not related to her degrees simply for the joy of learning something new.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. For many years she has spent time in the summers and weekends working with the youth at her local church and at the conference level. She relishes time to sneak away with a good book and dreams of writing her own book someday.
